This is a Portrait of Max Ernst, one of the Artists that Detlef admired very much in his youth and that inspired him. Ernst was born and raised just outside of Cologne in the small City of Bruehl and belongs to the Dadaist and Surrealist group around Andre Breton that all congregated in Paris in the early twentieth century. The Title refers to one of Max Ernst’s fictional characters Loblob and rational space is one of Detlef’s series which he combined in the title of this work.
